Drug Free Cherokee is collaborative effort of community agencies, law enforcement, private providers and concerned citizens coming together to discuss issues relating to drug, alcohol and tobacco use in Cherokee County. This coalition began in 2004 through the efforts of representatives from the Drug and Alcohol Council, Sheriff's Department, GBI, Juvenile Court, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Family and Children's Services, Chamber of Commerce, Highland Rivers Mental Health, Mothers Against Meth, Family Solutions, Cherokee County School District, Northwest Georgia District Public Health, and a community youth representative.
