Section A.  Collaborative Development:  relates to strengthening and sustaining the governance body.

 

        Goal 1:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will have a formalized membership guidelines set in place.

        Benchmark Objective 1.1:  Cherokee FOCUS will have a formalized membership form in place by FY2007.

 

        Goal 2:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will have formalized procedures for collaborative member request.

        Benchmark Objective 2.1:  Cherokee FOCUS will have written procedures for individual collaborative members

                                                  proposing new initiatives to be adopted to by the collaborative partnership by FY2007.

 

        Goal 3:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will reflect the diversity of Cherokee County.

        Benchmark Objective 3.1:  Cherokee FOCUS will establish mechanisms for family members to be more involved

                                                       in the collaborative planning process by FY2007.

 

        Goal 4:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will continue to expand in response to community needs by ensuring

                     financial stability.

        Benchmark Objective 4.1:  The Cherokee FOCUS will obtain a 501(c)3 status for fundraising endeavors requiring

                                                      this status by FY 2007.

 

 

Section B.  Systems Change:  relates to improving policy and practices in decision making, service delivery, financing

                                                 and budgeting)

 

        Goal 1:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will include the Hispanic population of Cherokee County in the

                      planning process.

        Benchmark Objective 1.1:  Identify leaders and family members in the Hispanic community and establish a

                                                    Multicultural Task Force by FY 2007.

        Benchmark Objective 1.2:  Identify and incorporate agencies focusing on the Hispanic community into the

                                                     collaborative process by FY2007.

 

        Goal 2:  Cherokee FOCUS will integrate and involve the Cherokee County families of children with special needs

                     and disabilities, in the collaborative planning process.

        Benchmark Objective 2.1:  Identify leaders and families with special needs or disabilities and establish a Special

                                                 Needs Task Force by FY2008.

        Benchmark Objective 2.2:  Identify resources for the special needs and persons with disabilities in Cherokee

                                                     County and produce resource guide in FY2007.

 

        Goal 3:  Cherokee FOCUS will assist in strengthening the capacity of the community to provide quality childcare for

                     pre-school children in Cherokee County.

        Benchmark Objective 3.1:  Establish a council of pre-k providers in Cherokee County by FY2009.

 

        Goal 4:  The Cherokee FOCUS collaborative will incorporate a cross-section of youth from the community in the

                    decision-making and service delivery of youth programs in Cherokee County.

        Benchmark Objective 4.1:  Establish a Cherokee County Youth Council with youth being nominated by

                                                     collaborative member agencies by FY2008.

 

        Goal 5:  Cherokee FOCUS will ensure that resource information for the families and children of Cherokee County is

                    available and easily accessible.

        Benchmark Objective 5.1:  Comprehensive community resource guide of family and children's services, programs

                                                     and providers to be put into place for Cherokee County by 2007.

 

        Goal 6:  All children of Cherokee county will have access to affordable dental care.

        Benchmark Objective 6.1:  Cherokee FOCUS will assist in establishing a volunteer dental care network by

                                                     FY2007.

 

        Goal 7:  All children of Cherokee County will have the opportunity for a healthy lifestyle.

        Benchmark Objective 7.1:  Cherokee FOCUS will help to establish a task force of youth providers, healthcare

                                                     professionals and families to develop community healthcare initiatives for youth by

                                                    2007.

 

        Goal 8:  Cherokee County will have strong families who are mentally healthy.

        Benchmark Objective 8.1:  Identify leaders, agencies, individuals and family members involved in mental healthcare

                                                  and establish a council by FY2007.

        Benchmark objective 8.2:  Identify mental health resources in Cherokee County and produce resource guide in

                                                FY2007.

 

Section C.  Results for Children and Families

 

        Goal 1:  All families living in Cherokee County will be self-sufficient.

        Benchmark Objective 1.1:  Reduce the unemployment rate within the 14-21 year age group by .5%

 

        Goal 2:  All Cherokee County students will succeed in school.

        Benchmark Objective 2.1:  To decrease the percentage of students absent fifteen or more days from 29.8% to 28%.

 

 

In January of 2005, the Cherokee FOCUS Board of Directors and collaborative members met at Reinhardt College to develop a three year strategic plan for Cherokee County.  Implementation of this plan began in Fiscal Year 2006.
